Public Education Division
The Public Education Division does presentations for all citizens groups in our area who request a safety education program. We can tailor any presentation to the specific needs of the audience.
We offer many different programs free of charge. Some examples of our programs include: fire extinguishers, general fire safety, juvenile firesetter intervention, water safety, disaster preparedness, 9-1-1, home/business fire safety, home safety inspections, burn prevention, fire truck demonstrations, fire station tours, & Community Emergency Response Teams.
Home Fire Safety
This program is designed to educate citizens about specific fire hazards found in their home, installing smoke alarms, and the importance of developing and practicing a home escape plan.
Businesses
Fire safety is not only for the home; it is also for the office. In this program, evacuation drills, the use of fire extinguishers and general office fire safety are taught to employees.
Public/Private Schools
The intent of the children's programs are to educate on the importance of basic fire and life safety, starting at daycare level. Programs include; fire safety (stop, drop, & roll, crawl low in smoke, matches and lighters are tools not toys), burn prevention, 9-1-1, first aid, water safety, poison prevention, children and arson, disaster preparedness, tobacco free kids, home escape plan, "Freddie" (fire truck robot), "Sparky" (fire dog), and Sparky's newsletter on Fire Safety.
Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Program
This program is designed to teach the child about the dangers of experimenting with fire. The purpose of this program is to intervene, educate and refer the child to the appropriate resources.
Community Emergency Response Teams
Members of our community are recruited and trained in life saving skills with emphasis on decision making skills, rescuer safety, and doing the greatest good for the greatest number. C.E.R.T. teams are organized so that they are an extension of first responder services offering immediate help to victims until professional services arrive in time of a disaster.
