Mission

The Fire Prevention Division provides services in an effort to reduce the incidence of injuries, death and property loss attributed to fire through the enforcement of nationally recognized codes.  These codes include, but are not limited to: all N.F.P.A codes, Florida Fire Prevention Code, and Florida Building Code.

Responsibilities include: fire inspections, building plans and systems engineering review, and promoting fire safety throughout the district.  Duties also include pre-construction meetings with Architects, Engineers, and Developers prior to submittal of plans.

The Fire Prevention Division has adopted the Lee County Fire Chief's Inspection Fee Schedule.

Meet our Inspectors:

 

Richard Jones, Fire Marshal

Fire Marshal Jones hired on with the district in 1990 as a fire inspector and was promoted to Fire Marshal in 1996. He currently holds Florida State Certificates for Fire Fighter, Fire Inspector I & II, Fire Officer I & II, and Fire Service Instructor III. He has an A.S. in Fire Science and a B.S. in Fire and Safety Engineering Technology. He also has a background in the construction industry.

 

 

 

Rhea Rivers, Fire Inspector

 

 

 

Rhea was hired June 19, 1991 to work as one of the 2 fire inspectors. She has since obtained an EMT certification and an A.S. degree in Fire Science.
